Design Services &
Product Sourcing

Creative Material’s Design Services and Product Sourcing Department operates out of a massive architectural library filled with nothing but tile, glass, LVT and other surface material.  Commercial clients call on this specialized department for no-cost services such as product sourcing, mood board sourcing (clients send us their mood boards and our team sends back a surface material mood board with options fitting the designer’s concept), and pattern layouts and designs.

When designing commercial spaces, this team understands the critical details involved, such as nominal sizing, technical requirements, and which manufacturers produce different surface materials most efficiently (which helps lower costs).

Surface Material Pattern Layouts and Designs

Pattern Layout | Chroma, Creative Materials Rendered Elevation, Page 1. The interior designer working on a corporate Interior fell in love with Creative Materials’ Chroma collection. The designer selected 4 colors that worked with his client’s logo and color scheme. He wanted to create a herringbone pattern with Chroma but was unsure on how he wanted it to look and didn’t have much time to explore various options. Design Services quickly created multiple looks for the interior designer. The designer selected this fading herringbone effect because of the movement and boldness this design would create in his client’s space.

Muse_Office_Multi-stall_Pattern_Layout

Pattern Layout | Muse, Creative Materials Pattern Layout

The safety net concept for this multi-user restroom looked to it’s woven construction for a tile pattern layout. The floor-to-ceiling restroom partitions posed a tile pattern design challenge. The overall pattern had to be cohesive as a full unit but function individually in each stall. Scale being a significant factor to drive the pattern and material selection, the Design Services team created a random basketweave pattern and “wove” in two accent colors utilizing our Muse collection. The mid-tone base tile grounds the pattern, while the contrasting tones add interest and depth to each stall.

For this corporate office kitchenette, the designers came to us with a few concepts and collections in mind. They wanted the kitchenette backsplash to be playful, interesting, and utilize the company’s orange-tone brand color. After an initial round of pattern layouts, the client decided to proceed with an undulating linear pattern created with our Spin collection.

While developing this tile pattern layout, the fixed shelf above the sink was a main element of consideration. We needed to ensure that the pattern worked with the shelf, and not obstruct the overall movement.

Urban_Subway_Office_Break_Room_Island_Pattern_Layout

Pattern Layout | Urban Subway, Creative Materials Pattern Layout

In the breakroom of this office space, the designers have a beautiful waterfall counter at an eat-at island. Looking to have a “hidden moment”, the designers wanted a tile that complimented the rest of the space and incorporated the blue accents that are seen throughout the palette.

When walking through the space, the front of the island is to be a discoverable moment that adds an additional level of design detail. We achieved this with a monochromatic stacked pattern utilizing our Urban Subway tile and mixing in a small amount of the linear tile profile. This give the front of the island depth and texture in the space.

FYI – this pattern layout is in the same project as the Muse restroom layout slide.

Pattern Layout | Modello, Creative Materials, Page 1. The Interior Designer working on this hotel lobby wanted to create a design with a hexagon that started on the reception desk and continued up the wall behind the desk. Creative Materials’ Architectural Sales Consultant (ASC) showed the Designer our Modello Collection and thought that was the perfect look for this space. The Designer showed the ASC an inspiration image with the look they were trying to achieve. The ASC reached out to Creative Materials’ Design Services to see if they could create this look with our Modello Collection. Design Services created a rendering of the design, as well as a tile pattern layout indicating the location of each tile in the design. Since this design was challenging from an installation standpoint, Design Services had this drawing reviewed by Creative Materials’ Quality Assurance department to ensure there would not be any issues with our drawing during the installation.
